I’ve learned not to force things (for the most part!). I am a true believer that things happen when the timing is right. You can align your intentions, set goals, but if the timing isn’t right, what was once a positive situation, could turn into a frustrating experience.
I knew I wanted to reach out and wish everyone a Happy New Year. But when I thought about it, I thought, “What will I say?” and “Will it be meaningful?”
So today, I’m taking inspired action.
What inspired me?
All of the beautiful posts and newsletters I read this morning.
Some people were saying good riddance to 2018, others had a good year, and a few were closing the door on the BEST year of their lives.
It gave me pause and I began to seriously reflect on 2018. For me, it was a year full of growth, both personally & professionally. Here are some of the highlights:
- My family “grew.” We now live in different cities and states, but we continue to remain close, which is possible because we’ve “grown” our relationships over the years.
- My businesses have grown and I’ve figured out how to incorporate more of what I love into them.
- My patience has grown – Mostly with myself. I’ve learned when enough is enough so I don’t reach the point of becoming stressed (I’m a work in progress!).
- I’ve opened myself up to new people and experiences. As an introvert, this isn’t always easy, but I made an effort in 2018 and it allowed me to create new relationships and grow existing ones.
I didn’t choose a “word of the year” for 2018, but if I had, it would’ve been “growth.”
This year—again inspired by other people—I’ve finally landed on a word for 2019. Originally I thought the word would be “no.” No to things that no longer serve me or commitments that don’t contribute to my overall goals.
BUT, what I realized was that instead, I need to be saying “Yes” to things that allow me to continue to grow. For example, “yes” to opportunities that take me out of my comfort zone, “yes” to growing relationships, and “yes” to more of what makes me happy.
I would love to know your word of the year and why you chose it.
I look forward to sharing with you so much more that’s to come and I’m wishing you ALL the BEST in 2019!
